We recently came across Two Travel, a concierge service operating in Mexico and Colombia. The owner stayed at one of our condos in CDMX, and since then, we have collaborated by hosting some of his clients. We often get asked about concierge services, so after learning more about what they do and how they do it, I decided to give them a spin for a short trip to Mexico City three friends of mine were planning to make.
Brief trips can be surprisingly time-consuming to plan–sometimes it’s ok to not plan and just improvise, but the more fulfilling and successful trips are those that have been well planned. The more people involved, the more complicated things get—differing opinions, changing plans, and the familiar last-minute scramble. More often than not, the responsibility falls on one person. That’s when we feel a good concierge makes all the difference.
The idea behind Two Travel is simple: they plan your trip, make all reservations—transport, lodging, food, entertainment—and stay available throughout. That’s the promise. But if you’re like me, you might be skeptical about whether someone else can really tailor a trip to your taste, within a budget that makes sense. That’s exactly why I wanted to try it out.
It all starts with a short introductory call where they explain their process, pricing, and what to expect. Scheduling that first call was easy via their site. After the initial call, If you decide to move forward, they set up a WhatsApp group with the decision makers, assign a senior concierge, and schedule a kickoff call to get to know your preferences and desires. After that, they go off and draft an itinerary.
That itinerary becomes the working document: it includes places to eat, things to do, suggested schedules, and prices. You can then go back and forth with the concierge to adjust and finalize the plan. Once it’s approved, their logistics team takes over, handling all bookings and details. If you’re staying in a rental, they can pre-stock it with anything from groceries to pharmacy items. They meet you upon arrival to make sure everything’s set.
In our case, the experience went smoothly. The team offered great suggestions, stayed responsive (they’re available from 8am to midnight, with replies typically within minutes), and made the process feel lightweight.
If I were picky, I would have liked an easier way to iterate on the itinerary—something as simple as a share document where one leaves comments and notes, reducing the back and forth delays. But this is a super simple thing I’m sure the Two Travel team polishes as time goes.
We didn’t run into any issues during the trip, so I didn’t get to see how they’d handle last-minute problems—which, ironically, is one of the main reasons I’d want a concierge. But no issues is always better than well solved issues! It felt like traveling with the benefit of a local friend—one who does all the heavy lifting in the background—for a flat per-person fee.
If you’re curious, check out their site. It’s not a magic wand, but it gets pretty close.
